Crime is prevalent nowadays. In the US, despite its high level of security, crime rates have been consistently in an upward trend. Houses and residential are few of the hottest targets of lawbreakers. In fact, there are about 5000 cases of break-ins in America every single day, which is a total of 1.6 million offenses in a year. This is the reason why most Americans turned vigilant and became very cautious in the past years. This spurred the demand for security devices. Security cameras for home are among those that are mobbed by consumers to provide additional protection to their homes. Although Asians remained to be the top consumers of the device, with 65% of global consumption accounted to them, the American people are quickly stepping up to the game. The Boom in Surveillance Demand Based on the reports from a website, there is an average of 30 000 search online every month regarding security cameras for home. That is a staggering number bolstered by a high demand from consumers. The figure is really impressive. But how many of them actually press the button and purchased the security device? Good news is numbers do not lie. They simply cannot. Another study revealed that Americans have given the device a warm and growing reception from 2011-2015. The trend is tracking an upward direction, which is a big boost to the expanding world of security market. In 2011, the security market boomed to $20 billion from just $11 billion in 2008. On the same year, study showed that there were 30 million security cameras produced in the United States as a response for the 9/11 terror attack. Many Americans felt they were vulnerable and there was a lot of money spent to buy security devices as an answer to safety risks and threats. The most notable development was the decline in crime rates in New Jersey after it fell by more than 70% in 2011. At the start of 2012, the number of people owning security cameras for home tallied 29.7 million households. A rise of 25% compared to the previous year. In the next two years, the growth jumped to 26% for 2013 and 2014, a proof that the market is following an upward trend. In these three years, from 2012-2014, the percentage of households using self-monitored systems has tumbled to 2% from 4% because the growth in professionally monitored security cameras have climbed from 15% to 18%. The prices of security cameras for home have peaked by 45% in the following year as buyers were lured with the innovations on the devices, which upgraded its features and functions. Form 30 million three years ago, it rose to 33 million in 2015, a 34% advancement compared to 2014. There is no doubt that the need for security cameras for home has surged in an unprecedented level in the past five years. Although no amount of security can totally eradicate risks and threats, the presence of a certain device at home is a big game changer. It is not yet too late to own one!
